Congratulations! you’ve landed your dream job and signed that offer letter. But you have a background verification process to complete before you can join. Background verification is an important part of the hiring process & varies depending on the role you’re being hired for. For some positions, organizations only verify education & work experience, certain other jobs require criminal checks as well.
And these forms may take a few hours or less depending upon how organized you are with your data, but that doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task. Just get organized once & you’ll be able to do this in a fraction of time.
Sometime in January this year, I walked in on a friend trying to fill in all the forms for the Background Verification Process (BGV). Moving back & forth between emails & old relieving letters, she looked at me with a bewildered look & said: “I am supposed to send this email by tonight if I want the process completed in time. How am I ever going to do it? It’s just too much data. I moved countries, houses & jobs in the last 10 years.”
Not only can you fill these forms in a few mins, but you can also do it from anywhere in the world. All you need is to organize the data. Oh! don’t start worrying already, I am not a super organized super mom, wife & businesswoman who can find everything when she wants it. But I do make small magic wands that help me when I am the wit’s end 🙂
So here’s what we did when we were filling my friend’s forms, we made a magic excel workbook to host all the data she would need when she changes her job next time & has to go through the BGV process again. Now upload it on google drive, dropbox etc and you can fill your BVG forms in a jiffy from anywhere. If the forms require relieving letters, you can also scan them & upload them.
You can either create your own little excel workbook or download one right here & breeze through the forms every time you change jobs.
